ERC youth triathletes meet every Sunday at the Royal Commonwealth Pool from 8am for a swim followed by run and/or bike session on Arthur's seat from 9-10am.
Book on Entry Central now
From Sunday 25th October, ERC youth triathletes moved to their new venue of the Royal Commonwealth Pool and Arthur’s Seat. This marks a great opportunity for the group to train at two of the best venues the city has to offer. The sessions will be on every Sunday morning, nice and early, 8-10am. They will comprise a swim from 8-8.55am, where we have use of four 25m lanes in the main pool, and then a run or run and bike session on Arthur’s Seat from 9-10am.
The sessions are led by qualified triathlon coaches who have experience of working with children and teenagers. The group comprises a younger section for 8-11 year olds and an older section for 12-15 year olds. The focus for the younger group is to introduce the children to triathlon and help them to develop their skills and techniques in running, swimming and cycling, as well as all important transition training! The emphasis is on making these sessions fun for the kids and to develop a positive attitude towards sporting activity. For the older group the sessions are aimed at developing speed and endurance, as well as refining skills and technique. The sessions are designed to ensure the kids are making improvements in all aspects of their triathlon training.
We are a friendly group who welcome new members. Our prerequisites are that all children are between 8 and 16 and able to swim, cycle and run, being able to swim 50m front crawl non-stop with face in the water. On Arthur’s Seat we will use traffic free paths and grass areas to ensure a safe environment for running and cycling.
We offered a free trial session on Sunday 25th October to ERC members. The autumn block is now open for booking on Entry Central and runs from Sunday 1st November to Sunday 20th December, cost £24 for 8 weeks – excellent value! Please email email@example.com for more information.
The triathlon group also offer Teen Spin classes on Fridays from 4.15 to 5.00pm at Meggetland Gym. Places are limited so please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in joining this group.
Look out for our special monthly training sessions that will take place over the coming months (Oct 2015 – Feb 2016) which will include developing mountain bike skills, trail running and cycling, brick sessions and strength and conditioning sessions.
ERC also benefits from having a well-established junior cycle section run by a team of very experienced and skilled coaches. This is a fantastic resource for all junior members wishing to improve their cycle skills, whether it be in mountain-biking, cyclo-cross, track cycling or road cycling. Please take a look at the juniors section of this web-site (waiting lists may apply).
