Edinburgh RC was established as a cycling club in 1925. Today we are one of the largest clubs in the UK, and our members are involved in every type of cycling. We have a reputation as a friendly club, and welcome cyclists of all ages and abilities.
Edinburgh RC are active in road racing, time-trialling, track racing, triathlon and duathlon, competing at all levels, from novice to expert. Our members are regular prize winners in Scottish events and also compete successfully at UK and international level.
We organise weekly club time trials throughout the season, and promote a number of open competitions. The club also organises regular group training rides and coaching sessions. If you are new to racing, we can provide advice and help you get started.
Edinburgh is ideally placed for mountain-biking, with the Pentland hills bordering the city and the nearby '7 Stanes' mountain bike trails of Glentress and Innerleithen. The club organise regular local weekend group rides, mid-week night riding sessions and epic days out in the Scottish Highlands. These events cater for all ability levels with the emphasis on fun trail riding.
For the more competitive, Edinburgh RC members are active in all forms of mountain-bike racing, including XC, downhill, trailquest mtb orienteering and enduro racing.
See the Off-Road section for more information.
The social side of cycling is an important part of Edinburgh RC Many of our members don't race, and just enjoy taking part in our regular on and off-road group rides and other social activities. The club organise a Saturday morning group ride, suitable for novice riders and anyone who prefers a more leisurely alternative to the faster training runs. We also have a social, mid paced Sunday group ride. Club members also organise occasional weekend trips and the ever-popular annual Majorca training holiday. See the What's on page for details of current club activities.
