New Members:
Owing to increased membership drop-in participation has now ended.
One hour introductory sessions are held prior to or during the first session of the month .  At these sessions new riders will have the opportunity to decide if the club is for them.  They will also undertake assessments to determine their bike handling skills and level of fitness.  If they then wish to join our club they must then become an ERC member and will be assigned to an appropriate group when a place becomes available.
Contact phildarby@hotmail.com to book a place on the next introductory session.
(The next will be held at 6.30pm on Mon 3 June 2013)

Where: Inch Park is centrally located in Edinburgh and backs onto the Cameron Toll shopping centre. Toilets are located in Inch House in the centre of the Park and at the IPCSC building. This is the meeting point for these sessions.

There are also trips away to dedicated cycling venues and other trails.

What to bring: An off road bike (nothing fancy needed), helmet (no helmet no ride) and a signed parental consent form (link below).

The introductory session is free then subs are £3.  You can join on-line but read the information on junior membership below first.

We are: A group of volunteers and coaches who work together with youth cyclists to increase their skills, fitness and knowledge of cycle sport and make them better bike riders.

What you want to do with these skills is up to you. Whether you want to nail a wheelie or compete for your country at amazing events like the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics, we're here to support you in any way we can.  For a start you could set your sights on competing for Scotland in the multisport UK School Games and follow in the wheel marks of other ERC juniors.

We have a core of members who take part in races across Scotland.  Many of the events are in Central Scotland with Ingliston, Glentress and Bellahouston Park, Glasgow being a popular race venues.  ERC Juniors organised a cyclo-cross event at the Inch Park giving an opportunity to race in Edinburgh against other Scottish clubs.  The club also organise a spring series of three youth only criteriums and a summer series of five criteriums at the Royal Highland Show Ground, Ingliston over summer months.

Track sessions

When:

Friday in the summertime we have used the track at Meadowbank.  This is suitable more more experienced youths and requires specialised equipment to ride the banked wooden track.  You can find out more about this via a club officer.

The Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in the east end of Glasgow gives members access to the boards all year. Our precise access time is still to be finalised but we will be offering training sessions which will allow access to the weekly Wednesday evening track league.

Other useful Information

ERC Juniors is a Go Ride registered club, for more information on Go Ride please see http://www.go-ride.org.uk/.
Sonya Crawford is the Club Welfare Officer (piglet.eyeore@blueyonder.co.uk).  She provides information and advice on child protection in the club, and should be contacted by anyone with child protection concerns.

Before a Junior can become a member of the club they need to have a consent form completed and returned by their parent/guardian.  This is on page 3 of the ERC youth policy document.  Two versions are provided below and parents/guardians are encouraged to fill in the word version electronically where possible (it makes it easier for the registrar to scan) before printing, signing and returning.

Consent form and ERC youth policy document (Word format) - Microsoft Word version that can also be opened in popular free office software such as OpenOffice, LibreOffice or similar. The completed form can also be saved.

Consent form and ERC youth policy document (PDF format) - Can only be printed for manually filling in and returning.
