ERC Juniors

Welcome to the ERC Juniors website

If you are 8-16 years old and like having fun on your bike then you've come to the right place. The ERC Juniors is the youngest section of the Club dedicated to teaching skills, having fun and getting fit in a safe, traffic free environment.  We can introduce girls and boys to a wide range of cycle-sports.  Mountain biking, cyclo-cross, circuit racing, track racing, there are many possibilities.

ERC Juniors Club Sessions

Regular sessions are held at The Inch Park and last 1 1/2 hours

When:

Winter Sat 2pm to 3.30pm, Summer Mon 6.30pm to 8pm.

(Winter sessions start on Sat 17 September 2011)

Where: Inch Park is centrally located in Edinburgh and backs onto the Cameron Toll shopping centre. Toilets are located in Inch House in the centre of the Park. This is the meeting point for these sessions.

There are trips away to dedicated cycling venues.

What to bring: An off road bike (nothing fancy needed), helmet (no helmet no ride) and a signed parental consent form (link below).

The first week is free then subs are £1 for ERC members £2 for non-members.  You can join on-line but read the informatin on junior membership below first.

We are: A group of volunteers and coaches who work together with youth cyclists to increase their skills, fitness and knowledge of cycle sport and make them better bike riders.

What you want to do with these skills is up to you. Whether you want to nail a wheelie or compete for your country at amazing events like the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics, we're here to support you in any way we can.

We have a core of members who take part in races across Scotland.  Many of the events are in Central Scotland with Glentress being a popular race venue.  ERC Juniors organise a cyclo-cross event at the Inch Park in March  giving an opportunity to race in Edinburgh against other Scottish clubs.

Meadowbank Track sessions

When:

Friday in the summertime.  This is suitable more more experienced youths and requires specialised equipment to ride the banked wooden track.  You can find out more about this via a club officer.

Read the Aug 2011 newsletter.

Other useful Information

ERC Juniors is a Go Ride registered Club, for more information on Go Ride please see http://www.go-ride.org.uk/.

Before a Junior can become a member of the club they need to have a consent form completed and returned by their parent/guardian.  This is on page 3 of the ERC youth policy document.  Two versions are provided below and parents/guardians are encouraged to fill one of these in electronically (it makes it easier for the registrar to scan) before printing, signing and returning.

ERC youth policy document (Word format) - Microsoft Word version that can also be opened in OpenOffice. The completed form can also be saved.

ERC youth policy document (PDF format) - Can be filled in and printed but not saved.
