ERC Juniors

Welcome to the ERC Juniors website.

If you are 8-16 years old and like having fun on your bike then you've come to the right place. The ERC Juniors is the youngest section of the Club dedicated to teaching skills, having fun and getting fit in a safe, traffic free environment.  We can introduce girls and boys to a wide range of cycle-sports.  Mountain biking, cyclo-cross, circuit racing, track racing, there are many possibilities.

Regular sessions are held at The Inch Park and last 1 1/2 hours

When:

Winter Sat 2pm to 3.30pm, Summer Mon 6.30pm to 8pm.

(Winter sessions started on Saturday 19th Sept 2009.  We will switch to evenings in early April 2010)

Where: Inch Park is centrally located in Edinburgh and backs onto the Cameron Toll shopping centre. Toilets are located in Inch House in the centre of the Park. This is the meeting point for the Saturday sessions.

There are trips away to dedicated cycling venues.

What to bring: An off road bike (nothing fancy needed), helmet (no helmet no ride), signed parental consent form and £1 (the first week is free).

We are: A group of volunteers and coaches who work together with youth cyclists to increase their skills, fitness and knowledge of cycle sport and make them better bike riders.

What you want to do with these skills is up to you. Whether you want to nail a wheelie or compete for your country at amazing events like the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics, we're here to support you in any way we can.

We have a core of members who take part in races across Scotland.  Many of the events are in Central Scotland with Glentress being a popular race venue.  ERC Juniors will be hosting its first cyclo-cross event in March 2010 giving an opportunity to race in Edinburgh against some of the best opposition.

Information for Parents

As a parent, you will no doubt want to make sure that your child is safe whenever they undertake any type of activity without your supervision. British Cycling's Go-Ride Clubmark Accreditation supports the development and recognition of quality junior clubs. As part of the programme, clubs must ensure they have a Club Welfare Officer, who has attended a Child Protection Course. Go-Ride sessions are delivered by British Cycling qualified coaches, who have also attended courses on Child Protection, Equity, and hold a current First Aid certificate.
