Kings Park Cyclocross

Last one! The final cross race was held in Kingspark, near Cambuslang in Glasgow.
This proved to be hard to find........after leaving in plenty time, we still got lost. Having cruised the streets, argued over the quality of my directions, we at last found it, with 20 mins to go before the start. Not ideal.
I asked one of the marshalls where the sign on was, only to be told it was in the school-which was on the other side of the park across a busy four lane road. My new found marshall friend(called Terry) and I horsed across the park in the car to get signed on, whilst Jenn wrestled with wheels, turbo trainers and clothing etc.
Arrived in time for the gun to go off, my warm up consisted of running to and from the car and getting changed. I don't recommend this scientifically measured process of honing your physical and mental prowess before racing though.
Away we go, Paul Mcinally myself and James Fraser Moodie are sitting in a wee group, by lap three realise the course has hardly been used, but it's already destroyed.........
At least half a lap consists of running. Carrying a bike weighed down with clag, through ankle deep mud. Which is hard.
No slacking for my intrepid feeder who is now standing alone in the pits,(other helpers and spectators having scarpered in the face of antarctic weather)back to the snow, holding out rain and snow soaked bottles for me.
Managed to get away in the running bits, now I am leading, into the by now biting wind through which small flakes of snow are whistling past.
Now we are riding in a blizzard :-) The race is cut short by 10 minutes, and with my lead of 35 seconds intact. After months of effort, I have finally won a bloody race.
On the way back to celebrate, Jenn was treated to a meal, even including chocolate pud.  ;D

Sorry for the late response but very well done Greig. I hope to see you replicating this on the road this year!
