Kirky 9.5 week7 1/7/009
« on: July 01, 2009, 09:31:16 PM »
Good to see a big turnout tonight and its always nice to see new faces.

It certainly was quite interesting for me tonight, can i just remind riders how important/helpful it is for them to shout out their numbers as they finish, it makes the time keepers job sooooooo much easier.
But, the funny people who shouted out their number after the first lap, you weren't quite as helpful!

Thats all, as you were.

27,Scott MacDougall,28.58
28,Arthur McAleer,30.14
29,Suzanne Boyle,31.14

Few points to note:
Due to the temporary traffic lights past winchburgh, we had to make the turn at this point and do two laps. The distance has been estimated at 9.5-9.7 miles so bear that in mind when looking at the results.
A few youngsters out last night which is always great to see and looking at the times of Sean and Jenny to name a couple, we have some good talent coming through. On a "normal" night it would be even better for them.
Thanks to everyone for being patient and careful at the turn at winchburgh as it was scary at times but everyone made it. One bit of advice as an observer is to signal the acutal direction you are intending to move to help motorists know your intentions. we watched some people signalling right to make the turn but then pulling into the left to start the turn so just be careful.
Ben-we had to adjust your time as unfortunatley you were turning a wee bit early (this may have been down to my spotty top confusing things!). Don't worry-it's just for fun!

thanks to the marshalls and timekeepers again

p.s. Colin-do you still have number 28 from last night?
p.p.s Brian Nic-do you still have number 12 from ages ago?

real roadies don't freewheel

Well done to lee on a very difficult job last night timekeeping. The reason for this being a long stretch of temp traffic lights on the road after Winchburgh. So we quickly decided on an alternative course of usual start to the bus stop at the far end of winchburgh and back to the leisure centre roundabout and repeat to finish as normal.
I loved the new course  :'(  as you had to go over that motorway flyover twice.

Well done to everyone for getting a PB on this new course . It was great to see so many new riders there last night especially the three younger riders who took part. Thanks again to Lee and Iain Rivans and Gaynor Cowe for marshaling.

Hi Iain,

I never had No12. it was the marshall number i took home by mistake and returned last week.

Last night was a good experience for a change, well done to all who took part and the timekeeper and marshall's.

As a spectator the doubled-up course, and big turn-out, made the roundabout interesting viewing, whilst working on the tan.  Next time I'll ride or marshall - honest.

Just a minor point, but there were 4 juniors in the event.  Sean Noon, Alex Webb, Scott MacDougall and Jenny MacDougall.  It was good to see the encouragement they got from all the other riders.

Thanks for running the event again last night - it was brilliant.  I have to apologise as I've got number 28 - I'll return it next week.  I think Ken W. may have number 12.

Well done to everyone last night, especially the newcomers and the four youngsters.  Great to see so much new talent coming through ERC.
