Kirky 10 Week 8 - June 20
« on: June 21, 2012, 08:00:58 AM »
The shortest night of the year saw the biggest turn-out for a while to celebrate the solstice in traditional pagan fashion: dressed in outlandish costume and practicing weird rituals (if testing isn’t weird and ritualistic I don’t know what is).

Once again, Kirky was blessed with pretty good conditions and as a result many were rewarded with scorching times.  The countdown of the top 5 brought successively bigger gasps, until……..Les was revealed as the comprehensive winner in a gods-pleasing 22.01.  So close to sub-22, but 2 wins in 5 days is getting Wiggins-esque.

Berit took top honours in the battle of the ladies and Basque-country-bound Ayrton Pellet was pick of the juniors in a very handy time.  Special mention to Jarlath who led the way for the “athletes”.  23.38 on drop bars – chapeau!  It’s the target to beat…..

Thanks once again to Colin C for time-keeping on a busy night, to Eoghan for marshalling, to Andrew Bothwell for putting out and taking in the signs, and special thanks to Brita Barnett, our guest assistant timekeeper, who only came along to bring Matthias but stepped in at short notice to help Colin.

A gentle reminder that if you’ve taken part 3 or more times this year and haven’t yet volunteered to help out, you need to take a turn (Juniors are exempt).  doug.allan67@gmail.com

Updated volunteer rotas and Series standings will be posted later tonight.

An enjoyable night, deceptively favourable conditions. Thanks to all the volunteers. Any chance of =9th if it makes any difference points-wise? I'm starting a late challenge on Les's early lead(!).

Thanks again to Colin, Eoghan and the others who helped out last night, not an easy job with so many riders.

Well done again to Les, sub 22 next week. Man in form!

Thanks again to the marshals, time-keepers and organisers for another great night.

Well done Jarlath also for another good time. Although the fastest 'athletes' time was actually David King. Well done Dave in your first TT!

Thanks Kim, I hadn't spotted that you and Andy had the same time.

And thanks to Stuart for pointing out Dave's time - without having made a mental note last night I just assumed he was on tri bars / TT bike.  Chapeau to him then.

Dave King is a new name to me but obviously got a lot of talent. Can anyone give me his contact details from a talent spotting point of view as the coaching co-ordinator?
