Report received from Keir Greatorex:
The annual Scottish Team Time Trial Championships took place on Sunday the 29 July on a course that started and finished in Kinross, taking in the Yetts O’ Muckart and the Cupar roundabout. This year there were only 2 teams from ERC. One team was made up of Lee Whitelaw, Jonny May, Les Ross and Ken Russell. The other team consisted of Neil Muir, Alex Kinsley, Scott Bell, and Keir Greatorex.
The course this year was 60km/38m and unlike last year consisted of very few roundabouts. It began on the edge of Kinross where we headed west out of town for 7 miles. The wind was a fierce easterly, so the first leg was into a strong head wind. After 7 miles the team turned around with no trouble at all and headed back into town. The next 7 miles had the treat of a tail wind, so the miles flew by! The next leg involved passing through the town centre and so traffic was an issue; however for my group at least it caused no trouble. This was followed by 12 miles out of town to the east. We encountered a few small rolling hills over these miles, these took their toll on me and I ended up sitting at the back for a bit. There was a roundabout at the end of the 12 miles where we turned to come back on the final stretch. Although it was the final stretch it wasn’t easy; the hills were made harder by the strong headwind. The team stayed together, but unfortunately lost Scott in the last 7 miles. The last few miles were finished with pained expressions as we squeezed out our last drops of energy. When we finally got to the finish all three of us finished together.
The results have not yet been released online* so I cannot give the time of the other ERC group, but the time for my group was 1:46:36. The event was won by Sandy Wallace cycles for the men and Deeside Thistle for the women.

* Full results from Braveheart posting by Janette Hazlett:
Thanks to Sandy and the members of Sandy Wallace Cycles for organising the Team Time Trial this Sunday. All their efforts paid off when their number 1 team took top spot. Congratulations to Peter Ettles, Silas Goldsworthy, Steve Nutley and Alan Thomson for retaining the Scottish Cycling Team Time Trial championships.
Deeside Thistle were able to field two teams in the Womens race and their 1st team of Patricia Baird, Shelley Farrar and Ashley Pearson took the Gold medal - well done. Moray Firth; Penny Phillips, Laura Nicholson and Ann Murray took the 2nd spot.
24 teams took part in total and the conditions were very windy although it stayed dry for more most of the field. It was great to see many teams entering two teams containing both young and not so young riders. Many teams had experienced riders working alongside newcomers to our sport and many of the newcomers were surprised at how much they enjoyed their race. Hopefully next year some more teams will realise that the Team Time Trial is a good day out working together with your clubmates !!

In one it looks like Ken Russell was dropped after the first turn - I can only assume this is clever photoshop work since he did sterling work as team anchorman throughout (what was for me) a very hard and painful forty miles -
