Alpine Bikes Crit Series

2013 Race dates

Races will be held on Tuesday evenings during April and May at the Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, EH28 8NB (23rd April, 30th April, 7th May & 21st May). A map of the RHS Ingliston course, sign-on, parking and toilet facilities can be found here.

The series finale will be held on Saturday 25th May at the Melville MC's East Fortune Race Course. Access off the B1377 Drem to East Linton road (EH39 5JZ).  There will be no Youth races on this date. The ESCA Youth RR Championships will be held at a later date, most likely in August.

What are the Criteriums?

A popular series of short course road races held on a traffic-free circuit. If you are new to road racing, the criterium series is an ideal introduction to the sport. You can experience the excitement of being part of a fast moving racing bunch in a traffic free environment.

Who can race?

The Youth Race Series events are open to Youth As, Bs, Cs and Ds (under 16, 14, 12 and 10 respectively.)

The Support Race Series is open to women cyclists of all categories. (Male Beginners who have done no more than two races should enter the 4th Cat race and notify the registrar at sign on.)

The Main Race is open to 2nd & 3rd Category racers.

On-line Entries can be made:

Entries will be via the BC online system.  Entries can be made on the day but will attract a £3 surcharge.

It would greatly speed up the sign-on process if as many as possible pre-entered.

2013 Prices

Youth C/D/E  Riders (U12/U10): £3  (on the day £5 )
(+ £1.50 for a day licence if you are not a British Cycling Member)

Youth A/B Riders(U16/U14): £5  (on the day £8 )
(+ £1.50 for a day licence if you are not a British Cycling Member)

Support Races (Women, Cat.4 & Beginners):  £9  (on the day £12 )
(+£5 for a day licence adult non-BC Members; £2.50 for day licence for junior non-BC Members)
(Male Beginners who have done no more than two races should enter the 4th Cat race and notify the registrar at sign on.)
Main Race (Cat 2 & 3 : £12  (on the day £15 )
(+£10 for a day licence adult non-BC Members; £5 for Gold/Silver-BC Members)

Ingliston:

Sign-on opens 17:15 hrs
NOTE: SIGN-ON FOR YOUTH CATEGORIES AND WOMEN DOWNSTAIRS & ALL OTHERS UPSTAIRS.

17:50 - Youth A/B race (NOTE: Youth A boys will start first and ride for 10 minutes, then will be joined by the remaining competitors).   Duration is 40 minutes+5 laps. (Main circuit ) ( Sign-on closes 17:35)

18:00 - Youth C Race. Duration is 20 minutes. (Back circuit) (Sign-on closes 17:40)

18:25 - Youth D /E  Race. Duration is 15 minutes. (Back circuit) (Sign-on closes 18:05)

18:45 - Cat 4 Race.  Duration is 40 minutes+5 laps. (Main circuit ) Regional C+ (Sign-on closes  18:25)

18:50 -Women's Race and Go-race/beginners (Back circuit) (Sign-on closes 18:30)
(NB: Women riders will start first and ride for 15 minutes then will be joined by the remaining competitors). Duration is 40 minutes and 5 laps. Regional B (Go-race is Regional C)

19:40 - Cat 2 & 3 Race. Duration is 1 hour + 5 laps. (Main circuit) Regional A (Sign-on closes 19:20)

EAST FORTUNE RACE TRACK : SATURDAY 25TH MAY 2013

This will be the 5th and final event in the Alpine Bikes Series.

11:00 -Women's Race and Go-race / beginners(Sign-on closes 10:40am)
(NB: Women riders will start first and ride for 15 minutes then will be joined by the remaining competitors).
Duration is 40 minutes and 3 laps. Regional B (Go-race is Regional C)

12:00 noon Paracycling National Circuit Series: Hand-cycling, Trikes and Tandems (Class’n B, H + T.)
Duration is 50 mins +  3 laps (Sign-on closes  11:40am)

13:00 - Cat 4 Race. Duration is 40 minutes+5 laps. Regional C+ (Sign-on closes  12:40pm)

14:00 - Cat 2 & 3 Race. Duration is 1 hour+3 laps. Regional A (Sign-on closes  13:40pm)
This race will include a round of the Paracycling National Circuit Series for Class’n C1 to C5

PRIZE GIVING :

First two morning races @ 13:15pm approx.
A
fternoon Races/Series major placings @ 15:15pm  approx.
