09:20RTTTRoad group ride
From Sunday 21 March 2010 onwards, the run will instead leave from the Gilmerton crossroads (the junction of the B701 (Newtoft Street, Ferniehill Drive) and A772 (Gilmerton Road, Drum Street). There is a sign saying "Gilmerton" at the East side of the junction with bench seats behind it - that is where we will meet.

On 21 March and throughout the summer months, the Sunday run will depart at 9.20 am. This earlier start is in response to widespread feedback from club members whose priority is to get back to Edinburgh by lunchtime. As at present, the start time is the time the run will leave - so please aim to arrive at least 5 minutes ahead of that time.
During the winter months (beginning shortly after the clocks change in October), the run will revert to a later start (probably 9.40 am). Full details will be announced nearer the time.
For more information about the Sunday run, please see the FAQ page: http://www.edinburghrc.co.uk/news/261/95
Please ride safely and predictably, with consideration for your fellow riders, and above all within the rules of the road. The club's reputation rests with all of us.
Individuals take part in any group rides at their own risk. Edinburgh RC and its club members accept no responsibility for the safety of anyone participating in group rides, and no liability in the event of an accident.
10:00ERCAdvanced Beginners Cycle
Location: Portobello High School, EH15 1N
Hi All,
A few of us have been meeting at Portobello High School on Sunday mornings at 10:00 for a cycle. This group is aimed mostly at advanced beginners and thus mostly at women – but not to discourage any men who may want to brave a ride amongst us. We invite all people new or old to the club who haven’t been cycling their road bikes for awhile and who would like an unintimidating ride out in East Lothian – usually with a coffee/cake stop mid-way. The thoughts about this group are not that it would take away from the official Saturday and Sunday rides but that they would provide a platform in which riders gain the miles and confidence to be able to join these rides when they feel ready.
This ride is not coached but will be lead by either Louise, Elise, Rachel, or myself (or any willing volunteer). No one is dropped and we wait for punctures and the like. If there are many people then the group may be split into more manageable numbers.
If you would like to join us – please add yourselves to the mailing list by emailing me at cjdbow@hotmail.com.
Any questions please don’t hesitate to ask!
Hope to see you there
Jenn
PS. Lots of helpful info on the ERC Website about riding in a group if you haven't done a lot of this.

I have been advised that currently club swimmers park either in the surrounding side streets (if they can find a space) or in Somerfield car park (on Dalry road). The general consensus is that it isn't a problem parking there for 2 hours at that time of the evening. There is also railing space outside Dalry baths for locking bikes. I would advise getting there early the first week if you are driving.

18:30TRIOpen Water Swimming
Meet at Portobello Swim Centre at 6.30pm sharp. Cost is £1.20 to use the changing rooms/showers. Usually we get in the water at about 6:45pm but we may or may not wait for stragglers - be on time!
This session is UNCOACHED and open to anyone. Usually people are split into groups based on ability, or there is a buddy system in operation, but there are no kayaks to supervise so you have to be confident enough in the water to take part. We will be swimming parallel to the beach fairly close to shore, and for the stronger swimmers a group usually swims out to a 'pole' in the sea. You are swimming at your own risk!
The water is usually quite cold as this is Scotland, so everybody wears wetsuits. Remember to have fun!

Hope to see you there
Jenn

19:00TRITRI Swimming
Location: Portobello Swim Centre
Coached swimming at the Portobello Baths.
Beginners are very welcome to join the development lane for more specialised coaching.
Non-members are welcome to try out before they join the club. Cost is £10 for all swimming for 2 months (£15 for non-helpers - see 2010 Info Newsletter for details), or £3 per session.
We should all aim to get to the poolside at 6:55pm to start at 7pm sharp. We have to have a 5 minute changeover period between us and the next club. Edinburgh Leisure wanted this to be 10 minutes, so they will be monitoring us to make sure we are all out of the pool by 7:55pm sharp.
For information on races, how to enter, how to get there, how to join the club and Triathlon Scotland just ask the coach or any other members: we are a friendly bunch.
