This is a tri-specific session suitable for all abilities, and lead by Alister Russell. You can get individual attention on your run technique, if desired, from Alister. 20:30TRITRI Swimming

Location: EH11 2AL
Coached swim session - Beginners are very welcome to join the development lane for more specialised coaching.
Non-members are welcome to try out before they join the club. Cost is £10 for all swimming for 2 months (£15 for non-helpers - see 2012 Info Newsletter for details)), or £3 per session. For information on races, how to enter, how to get there, how to join the club and Triathlon Scotland just ask the coach or any other members we are a friendly bunch.
I have been advised that currently club swimmers park either in the surrounding side streets (if they can find a space) or in Somerfield car park (on Dalry road). The general consensus is that it isn't a problem parking there for 2 hours at that time of the evening. There is also railing space outside Dalry baths for locking bikes. I would advise getting there early the first week if you are driving.

09:40RTTTRoad group rides

These are all comers rides also open to non club members and members of other clubs. (The 09:50 ride is the only group with a designated run leader.) Edinburgh RC recommends that riders limit themselves to a maximum group size of 14. Larger groups should split - this allows for a more consistent training effort and safer riding. All runs start from the car park outside Morrisons Supermarket, Moredun, Gilmerton Road, EH17 7JH - http://g.co/maps/w6z87. There are ~ three groups, starting with the 09:40 and getting progressively slower up to the 09:50 development ride. (If you get dropped don't worry - there should be a slower run coming along behind.) If the ride you choose is too slow, move up a group, don't make a road race out of it. Always ride safely and obey the Highway Code http://www.edinburghrc.co.uk/Safety The 9:50am Development run will be led by a run leader and is aimed at riders who are not used to riding in a group. If you plan to undertake this ride it is very important that you read the guidelines on the FAQ part of this website,This ride is NOT for complete novices and you must have a road worthy bike and be able to cover 40 miles plus at about 15 mph to take part. For more information about the Saturday runs, please see the FAQ page: http://www.edinburghrc.co.uk/index.php?mact=News,cntnt01,detail,0&cntnt01articleid=264&cntnt01lang=en_UK&cntnt01pagelimit=10&cntnt01returnid=95 Please ride safely and predictably, with consideration for your fellow riders, and above all within the rules of the road. The club's reputation rests with all of us. Individuals take part in any group rides at their own risk. Edinburgh RC and its club members accept no responsibility for the safety of anyone participating in group rides, and no liability in the event of an accident.

10:00RTTTRoad Ride

The ERC Sunday run leaves from the Tusitala Restaurant, 47 Buckstone Terrace, Edinburgh EH10 6QJ You can find the location here: http://tinyurl.com/bvpfzx6 The start time is the time the run leaves - so please aim to arrive at least 5 minutes ahead of that time. The Sunday run normally averages around 17 mph and is aimed at riders training to race or reasonably fit recreational cyclists. Riders are assumed to be self supporting and, while the group might have a cafe stop, this is not guaranteed, and riders should carry adequate food and drink. The group will always stop for punctures etc, and will aim to accommodate a reasonable range of abilities, but those significantly slower than the general pace of the group should be prepared to navigate their own way home. Routes vary from week to week, going East, South, or West, and usually sticking mostly to more minor roads. Distance varies according to season and weather, but is typically 50 to 70 miles, although shorter options are usually available. RUN PREPARATION Riding in a group has many advantages but it also places certain responsibilities on each rider. Punctures, mechanicals etc, whilst often bad luck, can be less of a trial if certain precautions are taken before the run Make sure your bike is safe - check your chain, brakes, wheels, rims and steering. Also ensure that nothing is loose (especially mudguards) or liable to fall off. Check your tyres - worn tyres are the single biggest preventable cause of punctures. Multiple punctures, apart from being a pain, won't endear you to other riders waiting for you on a cold day! Make sure you know how to fix a puncture - practice beforehand if you need to. EQUIPMENT REQUIRED You are likely to need the following equipment: * An appropriately serviced bike * At least one, but preferably two, spare inner tubes. * A working pump * Puncture repair kit - for those awful days when two tubes aren't enough. * Tyre levers * A multi tool - to adjust gears etc * Other optional tools e.g. chain breaker * Even in winter hydration is important, so each rider should carry a drinks bottle * Money - for the cafe stop * Waterproof * Solid carbohydrate source eg banana, raisins, jelly babies Individuals take part in any group rides at their own risk. Edinburgh RC and its club members accept no responsibility for the safety of anyone participating in group rides, and no liability in the event of an accident.

10:00RTTTRelaxed Road Ride

A new more relaxed ride leaving Tusitala at 10am prompt. For some time the Committee have debated adding a more relaxed Sunday ride to the club programme. This new ride will be ideal for club members moving on from the Saturday 9:50 Development Ride but already experienced with group riding. Members wanting a longer more relaxed social day out will also be very welcome. At first these rides are planned for the first Sunday of every month and will be led by an experienced ERC member with route and distance determined on the day! If they prove very popular this will become a regular additional Sunday ride. Please come along and support this initiative starting from the Tusitala Carpark promptly at 10am.

09:30RTTTRoad group rides

These are all comers rides also open to non club members and members of other clubs. (The 09:50 Development Ride is the only group with a designated run leader.) Edinburgh RC recommends that riders limit themselves to a maximum group size of 14. Larger groups should split - this allows for a more consistent training effort and safer riding. All runs start outside Royal Commonwealth Pool, Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh, EH16 5BB - http://www.bing.com/maps/?lvl=15&where1=EH165BB,%20UK&FORM=MMREDR. There are ~ four groups, starting with the 09:30 (very popular with riders who favour the colour black & members of VC Edinburgh, Bicycleworks RT, Rapha, Velo Ecosse etc.) and getting progressively slower up to the 09:50 Development Ride. (If you get dropped don't worry - there should be a slower run coming along behind.) If the ride you choose is too slow, move up a group, don't make a road race out of it. Always ride safely and obey the Highway Code http://www.edinburghrc.co.uk/Safety The 9:50am Development Ride will be led by a run leader and is aimed at riders who are not used to riding in a group.

10:00MTBMTB Long Ride Change of plan - Drumlanrig instead of Pentlands

Short notice maybe, but Andrew and I reckon that with the current weather a lot of the stuff at the far end of the Pentlands will be too wet to ride! So instead of the Pentlands all-day ride that's in the calendar, we're proposing a ride 'round the red and black routes at Drumlanrig. That's fun, 'old school' technical singletrack routes (quite tricky in places!). Meet in the car park at 10:30am. PS don't forget to bring money for the parking (£6 according to the Drumlanrig Castle website) I *think* that's per car...
