These were agreed as a true record.

Proposal for Sponsorship and Edinburgh City Centre Event

Gareth George presented a proposal for running a large-scale Edinburgh City Centre race, aiming for national coverage and requiring the support of the City Council plus very significant sponsorship. Initial informal communication with the Council has been favourable. Gareth asked for the committee’s agreement to form a 3-person team to take the idea forward and assess feasibility. The committee agreed. See action 070903-4.

Gareth also stated he had had informal conversations with a potential additional club sponsor, Cameron Stewart, of Field and Lawn. Agreement reached that we should approach Field and Lawn more formally and discuss the options. See action 070903-5.

3 Year Plan

Gareth talked about the success of our 3-year plan that’s nearing completion, and the need for a new one. Ken Whitson and Mark Findlay are forming a new sub-group to take that forward.

2008 ESCA Calendar

Discussion on dates for 2008 races. Ken will supply the details separately.

Chris Harney’s new race will take place on 1st March.
Richard Garrett’s new race will be on the 31st August.

Ken to contact East Fortune to see if it is available on 24th May. If it is then drop the 8th May. (Action 070903-10).

Sandra has offered to organise a women’s and vets race. Ken will speak to her (action 070903-11).

ERC AGM

This will be held in the Flamme Rouge on 19th November 2007.

AOB

The committee agreed to pay Neil Laing £50 as a thankyou for organising the Kirky 10 series.

Kevin agreed to draft some guidelines to run leaders to ensure consistency (action 070903-16)

Vice-President’s Report

Our response to the Hilton’s “Around the World” fund raiser was disappointing.

It was agreed at the meeting that we would not donate any club funds directly to the fund (with the exception of the £36 remaining unspent of the MTB section budget).

We agreed to discuss (at next meeting) whether the multi-sport and MTB sections would consider meeting at the Flamme Rouge. Action 070903-12.

Mark is seeking further sponsorship from Hilton for the car for 2008. He plans to speak to Guy after the Ceilidh and Dinner have been organized.

Secretary’s Report

Jonny reported that the Scottish Cycling AGM will be in the Royal Bridge Hotel, Bridge of Allan on 2nd December 2007. All input must be with SC by 7th October.

Jonny volunteered to research a motion to amend the rules such that camera finishes must be used on all national championships (action 070903-13).

Treasurer’s Report

Andrew presented the finances.

The committee agreed that any surplus/income from racing events will be ploughed back into further races (e.g. reduced entry fees or greater prize funds).
