Tri-squad Minutes 26/05/2008
Present: Peter Ness, Martin Farrell, Jim Leach, Martin Gore, Louise Smith
Apologies: Angela Kidd
Aberfeldy Middle Distance
-
Agreed that we should encourage as many individuals and team to enter this event on 16th August.
Action: Louise to co-ordinate teams and accommodation (at Dunolly House).
Team Relay Championships
-
At the previous meeting, we had decided to target this event in Nottingham but there are now so many events on around this time that we’re not sure what the demand will be.
Action: Peter/Angela to determine interest and co-ordinate teams, accommodation and transport.
Thursday Swimming
-
Only 3-5 people going on average
-
Agreed that we need to advertise more, e.g. at Portobello Baths, local papers, bike shops, cafes etc.
Action: Peter to ask Iain Gardener to help with poster production
Other swimming sessions
-
We discussed the issue of the RCP closure (currently scheduled for July 2009) and agreed that we need to find an alternative session, preferably one where the whole club can attend.
Action: Martin Gore to liaise with Ute Beck, who has already volunteered to help, to look into an alternative venue.
Website
-
It was felt that we are falling behind other areas of the club in terms of race reports and general updates.
Action: Martin Farrell to encourage people to submit race reports and look for someone to help with future content and layout of the website.
Aberfeldy Autumn Training Weekend
-
This is booked for 17th-19th October, which is the last available weekend before the Aberfeldy Recreation Centre closes.
-
It was agreed that Martin Gore and Linda McLean would have all their costs covered and other coaches would have their costs subsidised, dependent on the amount of coaching they did.
-
Additionally, to avoid a low ratio of coaches to athletes, numbers will be limited for safety reasons.
Action: Martin Gore to liaise with Ali Smith (Training weekend co-ordinator) to let him know how many coaches are available, what costs each should have subsidised and how many athletes can attend.
Kit
-
Tri-kit has arrived and has received a good reception.
Action: Peter/Louise to co-ordinate future orders.
-
We discussed the possibility of ordering club swimming costumes but agreed that it was too expensive to get costumes kitted out in the full ERC logos. It was suggested that we could get costumes printed with “ERC Tri-squad” lettering.
-
We also thought it was a good idea to get t-shirts for all coaches so that they were visible (esp. at the pool).
-
Along the same lines, we would like to have leisure kit – t-shirts and fleeces with the club name on them so people can wear them to races and when collecting medals etc.
Action: Louise to report back to the committee with some options. Peter to contact Colin Russell regarding the coaching budget for coaches t-shirts.
-
Need to order more caps – both pool and o/w.
Action: Jim to find out where the previous order came from.
Social
-
We haven’t had one for a while and would be good to encourage new members to get to know other people within the club.
Action: Peter to look into booking Flamme Rouge.
Friday open water session
-
This has become very popular (over 20 people going each week) but there was a recognition that it is sometimes a bit disorganised and could be difficult for beginners.
Action: Martin Gore to co-ordinate group leaders on an informal basis
