ERC Committee Meeting minutes.

Mon 5^th Jan 2009 Mercat Bar 19:30

Present:- Mark Finlay, Jen Lang, Graham Jones, Peter Ness, Jonny May, Kevin Tait and Colin Russell.

Apologies – Ken Whitson and Fiona Donaldson.

The minutes of the previous meeting were agreed and approved. 

The new ERC handbook, which will be published at the end of January 2009, was discussed. Content to be sent to Graham Jones by 19^th Jan 2009.

Outstanding actions.

CR to discuss membership with JW.

CR to discuss possible level 3 coaching course with NM and GG.

Saturday runs were discussed.

Organiser to be sought for the annual dinner.

Youth Development.  Clarify who is responsible within the club for this and their role.

ESCA have requested that ERC organise the Scottish Championship Hillclimb Competition in 2009.  This to be discussed at nest meeting.

VP report.

All sponsors have been contacted regarding their contributions for 2009. New sponsors also soon to be announced.

Secretary

Some BC licences already arriving for 2009.

Representatives to be sought to attend SC regional development meeting on 5^th Feb 2009. KW to be asked.

All people taking out a full race licence need to join ESCA so cheques made out to Edinburgh RC for £4 should be sent to Graham Jones – our new club registrar.

ERC track riders to be asked to consider organising a try the track day for youths.  Perhaps a sponsor may be able to assist with this and also ESCA.

A BMX day may also be worth considering along similar lines.

Membership Services

There will be a a small delay with the new membership card, and the latest Reartu order too, due to finalising details with a new sponsor.

Kit ordering has been streamlined and can now be ordered and paid for on-line.

The discussion of the need for consent forms for those under 18 years old was discussed.

There was a proposal to hold a ceilidh in November.  Organiser to be sought.

Another social evening – possibly a band night – to be considered for Aug/Sep. GJ to chase up potential organisers.

A new light will be purchased to enable the camcorder to be used for race finishes in poor lighting conditions. 

2009 budgets discussed at length.

Decision made to not take up the offer of a vehicle with Glenrental this year. 

GJ to check on magnetic logos for attaching to vehicles.

The Mercat Bar now offers 10% discount to ERC members once they have been issued with the bars loyalty card. 

Members meeting to be held in the Mercat Bar on 19 Jan 2009 from 2009 – an opportunity for new and prospective members to meet the committee and more established members. (Social night)

Coaching

Request made for KR to repeat his talk on road racing soon.

More club wide talks on nutrition, race tactics, etc requested too.

There is also a need to address the coaching of inexperienced and new club riders.

SC running a level 2 coaching course in June 2009.  ERC hopes to have many members on this course.

Coaches meeting to be arranged soon.

Treasurer

Internet banking for ERC being set up.  Should be available soon.

RTTT

Mens team budget proposal submitted to the committee. Team are currently finalising target events for 9 riders.  Residual expenditure from 2008 now spent.

Womens squad ; Sandra Murdoch issueing questionaire to riders from 2008.  Feedback to be reviewed.  Squad budget funded from RTTT fund.

Try the track day - to be arranged in April.

RTTT meeting being arranged prior to Mallorcan trip in March. 

Forthcoming events - Gifford Supr6 - all ERCs urged to come along and spectate or help out.

Kevin notified us of his current spend. 

Multi-sport

ERC won the 2008 Triathlon Club Championship for the first time.

An alternative venue is being sought to Aberfeldy for training weekends and one in Eyemouth is being considered.

New clothing order being sent soon. 

AOCB

Can KW arrange another race organisers meeting please?

JM to arrange for the return of all club trophies, and produce a role of honour for 2008.

Members night coming up on 19^th January.
