It's not all racing! Find out more about our regular social Sunday group rides
The Sunday run is a mid-paced general training/recovery ride. It aims to cater for riders of a range of abilities, both sexes and all ages. Distances are typically 45-60 miles in the winter, 55-70 in the summer, although shorter options are available. Average speed (excluding stops) is usually 16-17 mph, although the pace is varied to suit the preferences and abilities of those who turn up on the day. The run always waits for punctures etc., and although there may be the occasional sprint for a 30-sign, the emphasis is more on cooperative group riding than on competition. The run also aims for maximum variety in route, with runs going East, South or West from Edinburgh, sometimes hilly, sometimes flat, and usually with most of the distance covered on minor roads. There is often a cafe stop option for those who want it. The aim is to get home by lunchtime (usually no later than 1.30 pm).
