ERC Winter Duathlon Series, Event #1

After a couple of panics, Road works under the adjacent M9 bridge and the big New Year storm it looked like we'd be cancelling events for the second year running.

The lead up to the event was pretty fraught. The threat of continuing road works for the new 2nd Forth Crossing Road Works partially closing the road  and when the great New Year storm took the roof off the Race H.Q. in Kirkliston it looked very likely that the event would be called off.
SRB Civil Engineering Ltd., the road contractor for Junction 1A were extremely helpful in clearing the traffic lights and diversion works and giving the road a good sweep before the race.

The Leisure Centre re-opened on Monday after temporary roof repairs were carried out over the weekend before the race.

It was green to go and only 4 days to get the race organisation back into gear.

It was a great relief to get the competitors away at the start on Saturday.
