ERC has a structured approach to developing riders who are keen to race. Any ERC member can join the development squad, take part in training sessions to improve all aspects of bike riding, and join the ERC facebook racing forum. Development riders can progress to the team pool by demonstrating commitment and continuous improvement in measured tests, once in the team pool the riders look to get picked to represent ERC in a race team to race at the highest level with dedicated financial and coaching support. The race teams are fully committed to getting results in National events across Scotland and England, and with the support of one of the biggest clubs in the UK it offers a direct route from keen novice to national level athlete.

All riders in ERC are encouraged to get a road licence to race. There are loads of rides and training opportunities for all levels. If you are keen and want to race at the highest level you can aspire to meet the Race Team criteria - a ramp test result above 5watts/kg, a proven race record, a comittment to the club and your signature on the riders agreement. See team manager Jarlath Flynn (jarlathflynn@hotmail.com) for details on training and team racing.
In recent years, Edinburgh RC women have racked up fantastic success at the very highest level winning British Road Race Series titles, Scottish Time Trial Championships, Scottish Road Race Championships, British Masters Road Race Championships, and European and British Masters Track Gold Medals. Two squad members have gone on to ride professionally for teams on the continent.
The women now combine with the men in the ERC race team and development squad channelling all riders into the top ranks of the sport.
ERC has one of the biggest women's memberships of any cycling club in the UK. Whether you are an experienced competitor or a complete beginner, we provide an extraordinary breadth of opportunities to develop your sport within a friendly and supportive club.
