Eastern Promise RR 2021

This event was the last of ERC's truncated road race programme.

The race was hard from the start, the field split into small groups with many attempts to escape. As a result there were several groups and individuals spread around the course. In the final half lap, Cameron Mason (TRINITY Road Racing) and Louis Moore (Vanelli-Project Go) moved away from their peloton to contest the sprint for the finish. Cameron took the win by several bike lengths making some recompense for missing the HSBC UK | National Trophy Series cyclo-cross race in Cumbria. The remains of the peloton was brought home by Ciaran McSherry (Edinburgh RC) who also took the prestigous Eastern Promise Lantern as the first of ERC's riders to finish.

The race incorporated the Pippa Handley Trophy which was awarded at the top of the penultimate climb. Kate Richardson (VC Glasgow South) was victorious in this contest. She was followed in by Charlotte Robb (Ayr Roads CC). Kate got in some valuable racing miles for next week's British national championships. We all wish her well there.

Customer feedback

“….a great experience for me...”

“I totally forgot to hand it back in!!”

“...my first road race and after the welcoming feel and seamless experience, I'll be back for more.”

“From sign-on, leading out the riders in the neutral zone, the course itself and the food & drink offered afterwards (nice touch) it was an enjoyable experience.”

“The Sandwichs at the end were 10/10 Please pass on my compliments”

Next year we are considering going straight from the neutralised zone to the buffet table.

And finally

Here are some of the people who made the race a success, many thanks. (Steve and the first responders were camera shy?).
