Launch of Edinburgh Road Club Goodson Youth Race Team 2024

This week saw the launch of the Edinburgh Road Club’s youth race team for 2024, it will consist of 9 Young riders aged 13-16 competing in road, track, time-trial and cyclocross events. The team is delighted to have continued support from the Goodson Associates who are now in their 6th year of supporting the team. In that time, the team has produced numerous Scottish and British Champions and remains Scotland’s most successful youth race Team. This year, SCI Print Ltd has become a new supporter. We will soon be revealing the new revamped 2024 race kit.

This season the team will be spearheaded by 2nd year U16, Elliot Speedie who recently became the Scottish individual pursuit Champion. Elliot is also on the National School of Racing-Foundation where he trains with the most promising riders in the UK. Hamish Mayes is back, he rode to victory in the finals of the Glasgow at Race the Worlds with a very impressive performance. Also Joining them are new riders Rhys Littlejohns and Seth Overton. All riders are planning a full campaign in the Scottish and British Series races next season and in the British track omnium.

The very promising 2nd year U14 boys Andrew Levinson, Micah Myles and Tymek Chmielowski dominated the Youth B category last year in Scotland, picking up all the wins in the Scottish Crit Series. In addition, the Scottish Crit championship Jersey went to Andrew Levinson. We cannot wait to see how they perform next year.

The girls are led by 1st Year U16 Kasey Park, who is back for her third year with the team. She recently took silver at the Scottish track champs for the 500m TT and youth sprint events. She is ably backed up by 2nd year U14 Lucy Sweeney, who returns for her second year with the team. Both girls raced very strongly at the Youth Tour of Ireland where they won the female team prize. We are looking forward to seeing both riders at national road and track events.

We hope you will follow our exploits over the season ahead. These begin at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in the Monsters of Track event on 6th Jan 2024.
