ERC Midweek TT Series Week 12 - Proper Hank Scorpio

24 July 2019

Week 12, in stark contrast to last week was proper toasty and 21 riders joined in the sun soaked fun.

On my ride to the TT this evening I ended up inadvertently deepthroating a wasp. I thought this would be the lowlight of my night, however England were bowled out by Ireland for 85 & Dominic Raab, a man who I wouldn’t trust to blow his own nose, is now our Foreign Secretary. This puts the wasp choking in context.

Tonight the rumour was put to bed that Ian Dobbie was Alan Dean in disguise. Prior to tonight they’d never been seen in the same room together. Go figure.

Though the weather changed substantially the results were back to normality, Alan was back on the top step with a PB of 20:50. Ian Dobbie was second with 21:20, Alan was Ian’s 2 minute man so I can confirm they are two different people. This it seems is not a case of Jeremy Irons in Dead Ringers. Paul Griffiths was third with 21:56.

Rae Captieux on her return was the fast female of the evening with a time of 24:16, Lucie Hrnickova was in a close second posting 24:30 and Hollie Begg in third finishing in 27:16.

Karolis Dendura was the fastest road bike of the night with a time of 23:48, Josh Pencheon earning his double scoop from Crolla’s in Leith was second with 24:05 and Mark Baxter of Pentland Velo was third fastest with 25:28.

Special mention also to Chris Borthwick who said he enjoyed my weekly race reports, therefore flipping great wadges of discretionary points will be awarded for such praise.

Thanks also to this evenings volunteers Alan Burke, Euan Munro and, well, me. Lewis Hutchinson was also meant to be volunteering but he had a dog related mechanical. He kindly supplied Lucie with brownies to garner favour, which were well received of course, it also gives me the opportunity to say he did this to gain brownie points. I’m here all week.

Cheers

Dan
