Edinburgh RC Goodsons Associates youth race team are organising Race the Volcano. The Official Youth Support Race for the Women’s Tour of Scotland on Sunday 11 August. The third Stage 3 and final stage of the first Women’s Tour of Scotland will begin in Holyrood Park. This is a landmark moment for Scotland and Women’s Cycling. Riders and spectators will be treated to the start and finish of Stage 3, with the climax seeing the women completing three laps of Arthurs Seat that could have a major impact on GC.

Race the Volcano will take place while the women are off smashing their stage through the Scottish Borders. The young riders will be racing on Arthur’s Seat, a closed road circuit never used before in Youth Racing.

Arthur’s seat is an extinct volcano which last erupted over 300 million years ago and sits at the centre of the best city park on the planet. Its tourist attractions include stuff like the Scottish Parliament, Dynamic Earth and Holyrood Palace and, much more importantly, a hotly contested Strava Segment, the 1.4km Queen’s drive climb. The race may see new leaders in the Kings and Queens of the Mountain.
