ERC youth riders had their first session of the year on the road circuit at Fife Cycle Park.

15 Go-Riders aged from 8 to 12 took part in sunny weather. They met up in person with many of their clubmates for the first time since the winter lockdown. Zoom roller sessions had been the only opportunity they had to see each other. Soon it was as if we had never been away.

Coaches Simon Innes and Phil Darby led the session which emphasised safe riding in small groups. The photo above shows an older group passing a younger one at a safe distance. This was taken on the back straight of the 250-meter oval. The session started with observation exercises before moving on to TTT changes on the 500 m 'hair-drier' loop. The session finished with a short, handicapped coach-led race.

The facility was shared with members of the ERC Goodson Race Team who were training on 'The Wiggle'* portion of the circuit. Thanks go to the team's Eric Easton for his hard work in preparing an extensive COVID-19 risk assessment. This ensured that the sessions were run safely.

Feedback from the session was universally positive which augers well for the next five FCP sessions scheduled from now to the end of June.

Regular Go-Ride sessions on grass will be resuming soon at Corstorphine and Inch Park.
