Challenge Ride Sunday June 26th - Pitlochry/ Tummel Bridge/ Glen Lyon/ Ben Lawers/ Loch Tay loop

Distance c.135k, (85 miles) with total climbing of c.2100m (6,900 ft)

Ride leaders: Andrew Nicoll/ Alastair Webb

The plan is to meet at the Escape Route bike shop in Pitlochry High Street (with coffee shop next door) around 0930, to depart at 1000 sharp.

This is a beautiful route on mostly very quiet Perthshire roads, starting and finishing in Pitlochry. The route heads west to Tummel Bridge, up and over the Schiehallion climb, down to Fortinghall, up Glenlyon to Bridge of Balgie and over the Ben Lawyers Dam road. A spectacular descent heads down to Loch Tay and it’s then a short stint west to Killin for a cafe lunch stop. The trip back to Pitlochry goes via the south side of Loch Tay, through Kenmore and then via the back road going through Weem and Strathtay, to Grandtully and back over to Pitlochry (which many will know as the finish to the Etape Caledonia route). Total distance is c.135k, with total climbing of c.2100m. Remember all rides need to be self-sufficient on the day in terms of spare tubes, pump, food, water bottles and extra clothing as appropriate.

Pre-registration is required via LoveAdmin.
